| X236 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.6/HP.25.10.33. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Gudgeon Pins without interference fit. Replying to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KT.24.10.33. and referring to our interview with the Aerolite Piston representative, we have learned that these pistons break up when fitted with an interference fit on the piston pin, and the natural inference is that our own RR. piston must suffer from severe stresses for the same reason. We should like to see the semi split pistons we have on test fitted up with cold push fit pins as it is important for these not to distort. The set we measured up from the last run showed considerable distortion in the skirt. We are sending a drawing shewing a lubrication hole to collect oil from behind the ring.
