X. 664. BATTERIES.

X. 3398. Battery No.40. Peto & Radford HDE13. has done quite well on our routine tests and seems to be a much better battery than those previously received from the P & R Co. It is therefore, now being arranged for this battery to be fitted to one of the experimental cars for trial under service conditions. This battery has good filling holes and good cell to cell lead covered connecting links which are secured by heavily lead coated nuts on the terminal lugs. The vent plugs and collars of porcelain and might easily be broken. Acid spraying takes place to some extent during the later stages of the charge. On the whole the battery has a good appearance. The arrangement of cells is according to our standard specification.
