FAILURE OF FABRIC COUPLING ON 98-NK CAR. Handwritten: X8305 X8940 We have examined two fabric couplings which have been running on EAC. 'V' series cars in England. The coupling on 44-PK car has run 4,000 miles and there are no signs of this coupling being damaged. The coupling on 46-PK car has run 1,500 miles and is as good as new. We suggest that when the car is run in France over the bad roads, there is considerable movement on the back axle which would produce considerable variation in torque in this coupling.
