Comparison of three electrical system devices: a voltmeter, a 'Mentor' device, and an electro-magnetic switch, based on human interaction.

Now comparing these three devices in the reverse order :-

(1) The voltmeter necessitates two units of human element for its satisfactory use - it has to be observed and then an operation of turning the switch has to be performed.

(2) The Mentor necessitates one unit of human element only - it lights the red lamp automatically, after which the operation of turning the switch has to be performed.

(3) The electro-magnetically operated switch does not necessitate any unit of human element - it is entirely automatic in its action.

It appears to us from many points of view, and particularly from the point of view of the small element of added unreliability, now difficult to resist the conclusion that a unit such as described is really desirable for the better general functioning of the electrical system on our chassis.
