-2- be better to use the same construction as for the smaller tube, i.e. a parallel bore with two separate distance collars. Lastly we would like the Works to tell us whether they think it is possible to roll a 'V' shaped groove into the tube like the American sample, as this would obviate the use of a distance piece entirely. With respect to the ball end or pallet piece we agree to this being made as a forging unmachined providing that the pallet can be made clean. We have shown it on our scheme made from bar turned and milled only because the whole issue was experimental and still is, and we thought that it was not wise to produce dies until we knew more about the scheme in general.
