BY/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}S/MG.31.3.39 REPLACEMENT OF SILENCERS The reasonable life of a silencer has previously been placed at 5 years, and any failure between 3 and 5 years has been charged for on a basis proportional to its life. In view of the increasingly arduous duty performed by modern silencers, both as regards heat dissipation and the question of corrosion, it is considered that silencers should be regarded more as a consumable article, and it has therefore been decided to reduce the period of concession to 4 years. Special cases, like Doctors' cars, will always have to be treated on their merits. BY/SBS | ||
