To CWB. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X993 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG25.10.28. RE. GERGOVIA TYRE INFLATER. We give below a report on the above pump. We certainly could not recommend it, but as we have no alternative, in cases where customers demand such a fitting, this may satisfy them. We feel certain there must be a better mechanical tyre pump on the market. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We have tested this apparatus and although it functions O.K. we should not be very keen to recommend it to R-R owners. It takes from 9 to 15 mins. to inflate a 33 X 6.75 tyre to a pressure of 40 lbs/sq.in. from a fully deflated condition. It functions the best with the engine running as slow as possible. We found during the test that one of the cylinders would not inflate the tyre to 40 lbs., 39 lbs. being the highest pressure obtainable. To increase a pressure from 35 lbs. to 40 lbs/sq.in. it takes two to three minutes. There is no gauge with the inflator which makes it guess-work as to the pressure obtained. A pocket gauge would still have to be used. Our laboratory tests of the inflated air give practically no petrol vapour and no sign of oil. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W.
