By c Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X5040 Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}4/T27.2.28 re 20HP Pistons With the strutted cylinders, we have very little trouble with overoiling, and we should like, if you agree, to try the rectangular type of piston ring again. Although it was not successful when it was tried recently on the Phantom, the 20HP is not so prone to overoil, and we think the rectangular rings would certainly be worth a trial on the 20HP. If you agree, we think the best scheme would be for say, a dozen engines to be built up in batches of 3 with about 3 weeks interval between the batches. this would prevent serious delay, should it be necessary to change the rings back to the L. type when on test.
