Dear Geoffrey,

Thank you for your letter of the 28th June.

I think you are unduly worried about Dick's axle trouble, we have had demonstration cars running 30 and 40,000 miles continuous demonstration work without the trouble developing. We know all about it, however, and will guarantee that Richard will not reproduce it. I can assure you that we have broken many, many things on the car which even Dick will not destroy. Incidentally the trouble is not in the gears but in the thrust race, unless the failure is an abnormal one.

We are co-operating with Bleaney and supplying a drain plug for your crankcase.

I should try staying your head lamp pillars in any way you think fit until we can offer you an official improvement.

If you send your car in before you go to Cape Wrath we will deal with the thrust race.

Yours ever,
