Sr/VA3/ET.23.4.40 - 2 - The side shaft of this box also has a fair amount of end play, but we are inclined to think that the cones are the principal cause of the noise. B.IO.AW. The gearbox of this car is not quiet, but it is more so than the other two boxes. As explained above, it is difficult to change from top to 3rd without making a noise and we should like you to inform us what you consider is the cause of this. ARRANGEMENT DRAWINGS We should like to be in possession of a complete set of Arrangement Drawings of the gearbox as soon as possible. BLUE PRINTS We should also like a set of Blue Prints showing the various clearances of the gearbox (end play etc..) and especially one showing the correct amount of travel of the bronze lined cones and synchromesh system generally. CONCLUSION As this type of box is quite new to us and in order to overcome the above mentioned troubles, we shall be glad if you will kindly send all available information, in order that we may at least make the gearbox passable. Unfortunately, our two gearbox specialists, who are very good men, have been mobilised. Can you send us one or two sets of springs (about 13/16" long x 3/16" diameter), as fitted to the Synchromesh system. Sr/VA. | ||
