Messrs. Newton & Nicholson Ltd.,
Tyne Dock Corrugated Metallic Packing Works,
SOUTH SHIELDS.

For the attention of Mr. Ramsay.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for the 12 Corru-Joint Brass Rings to replace our Packings G.81618/9.

Actually the ones you have supplied are not quite what we require. We had expected a plain thickness of the brass to fit under the bolts. That is so that the outside dimensions of the joints should be exactly similar to the dimension of G.81618/9.

We will endeavour to test the rings you have sent, but are very frightened that the thin flanges each side of the joints will collapse.

Will you please therefore produce 12 more joints corrugated on the large diameter in a similar fashion to the rings you have sent, but also having a plain thickness of brass to support our flanges.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
