10) 3 EXHAUST VALVES STELLITED.

The Stellited Valves are in a very good condition. The seatings are free from pitting and no carbon deposit. There is a metal to metal contact which keeps the Valves cooler.
The three non-stellited exhaust Valves are pitted, and there is a carbon deposit on the facings. This tends to insulate the seating with less cooling effect.
We have had no further trouble with Valves sticking open. One Valve spring was found with the bottom coil broken at the finish of the mileage.

11) MAGNESIUM INTAKE BEND & TIMING COVER.

The Intake bend and timing cover made of Magnesium are in a good condition.

12) LIGHTENED AIR SILENCER.

The lightened Silencer is in a good condition. A fair amount of oil has been drawn into the chamber by the breather from the rocker cover. Oil has leaked from the spherical joint of the breather pipe.

13) FAN.

A standard Fan & Bracket was fitted after 9,000 miles. With the exception of medium and slow running, no appreciable difference was made in the oil and water temperatures. The Fan has not shown any faults.

14) IMPROVED SPECTRECodename for Phantom III PETROL PUMPS WITH NEW TYPE FABRICS & NON-INDUCTIVELY WOUND COILS.

The Pumps are no quieter than present standard. One Pump has become sluggish in operation, but we have not had a failure or lack of supply of petrol. The contact points show slight burning.

==============

CHASSIS.

1) FRONT AXLE.

The N.S. stub axle of the 4° transverse lean of pivot axle, broke off close to the rear ball race. The broken parts were sent to the Works for examination. With the failure of the stub axle, the Brake Drum jammed on the shoes, causing it to crack. A standard new Axle was received & fitted. The steering was heavier with this Axle throughout the mileage run with it.
