<4662> Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}20/KW. 13th September, 1934. Mr. Worth, Messrs. The India Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd., Inchinnan, SCOTLAND. Dear Mr. Worth, Lord Rothes tells me that you would like a report on the non-skid properties of the Colonial tyres you supplied to us. Actually with regard to skidding, we have been unable to obtain any experience whatever as the weather has been continuously fine since they were fitted to the car. We have formed the opinion that these tyres are noisier than the triple stud, the latter has always been our standard of silence for a good non-skid tread tyre. However, we will make some more comparative tests and will give you more accurate information. Actually it is impossible to classify noise; it would be more satisfactory if one of your technical representatives could call and we could then demonstrate to him what we consider to be the objectionable sound emanating from the tyres. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
