-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.28.9.36. There is no doubt that the lining which we are forced to use to avoid jaggers can be destroyed by abuse. We should like the Design Dept. to reconsider the design of the clutch in view of the present unsatisfactory situation. Other minor troubles are :- (4) Shortage of Oil to Tappets. This has been reported on. It appears that we can get over the trouble for the time being by discouraging the use of Price's Motorine 'C'. (5) Oiled up Sparking Plugs. Has been reported on. Cure running on 35-EX. (6) Valve Springs. Breakages appear to have disappeared with improved production. (7) Exhaust Boom at Low Speeds. Parts were not ready for fitting to 34-EX but have since been tested in London on 35-EX and found to be satisfactory. Should like to know whether Sales can let us have 34-EX now to fit them or whether they prefer them on some other car. (8) Connecting Rod Bearings. We are continuing development on Hall's metal big ends. We expect now to have a set ready for 35-EX on the completion of its London tests. (9) Oil Consumption. 'L' shaped rings fitted to 35-EX. (10) 4-Port Cylinder Heads. Now on test. Gives increased power output. | ||
