800B To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} from Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/AT.15.10.40. 3. B. 30. Considering its size, the road holding qualities of this car are good. The brakes are very powerful and progressive. Also well equalised. One gets the impression that there is so much front braking that front wheel skid might result from a sudden stop under wet conditions. This test should be made in the immediate future. The engine is rough at 70 M.P.H. The fan and water pump should be tested before handing the car over to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, to see if they are the cause of the roughness. There is a vibrant pannel, baffle or pipe somewhere on the car, which sets up an irritating vibration at various speeds. We should like to know what this is. The change in needles has eliminated the flat spot. The car, however, should be run with a blanking plate under winter conditions. If we assume that winter conditions are 20° cooler than summer conditions, then the baffle should such that it raises the top water temperature 20°, with the thermostat removed. The gearbox is good for silence. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
