We thank you for yours Cr{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester}2/U27.4.20, and the sample clips have been received by us. They certainly give one the impression of being a very nice, neat and complete job. By whom have they been used, and what experience have they had with them ? I certainly think they are worth trying and if you could arrange to have a set sent on to me, I will try and get them run on an experimental car. The quantity required for a car would be 4 - size 1 1/2 dia. An inspection of these clips rather brings forward the following criticisms :- (1) The aluminium pieces used in this fitting are not very strong and will easily break. (2) There is scarcely enough friction to cause it to be self-locking when screwed up tight. (3) The local friction where the brass strip passes through the aluminium may be so excessive when finally tightening up that an even load round the tube is not obtained. We shall be glad to receive the pattern "B" which you refer to in your memo. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
