Query regarding the production possibility of reducing the weight of large inlet valves by drilling a hole in the stem.

We should like your opinion on the production possibilities of reducing the weight of E.83904 P.II large inlet valves by drilling a hole (.230" in diameter) from the end of stem opposite to valve head (the hole to extend the length of the parallel portion of stem), and fitting a hardened steel cap - in a similar manner to the machining of sodium cooled valves.

This proceeding would be quite safe from a stress point of view, but we are interested in machining costs,difficulties etc.
