1029 Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 26th. January, 1939. New Hudson Ltd., Icknield Street, BIRMINGHAM, 18. For the attention of Mr. Fraser. Dear Sirs, Two Leading Shoe Brakes. We want to brake a car without a servo motor, because the particular gear box which is to be fitted to this car has not one of our mechanical servos built on to it. To do this we must have a two leading shoe brake, nothing else will be adequate. The brakes are to fit into our standard assemblies, prints of which we enclose. (Please treat these as confidential). We presume we may have to add abutments, and of course, the existing shoes will be removed and the two leading shoe carriers put in their place. We would like you to prepare a design for us, if you will be so kind, changing as little as possible of our present set up. The abutments should be, if possible, pieces added to our present back plates, rather than new back plates with abutments integral. It is very important that we should have these parts as soon as possible, preferably within six weeks. We should also like a low quotation for the cost, as if this is excessive we will not be allowed to proceed. You will realize that the new parts are mainly eight shoes and eight carrier shoes. Our own shoes are 2¼" wide but we would be quite willing to accept 2" wide shoes should you have any ready made. | ||
