LOG BOOK. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Sym. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}4/MH.{M. Huckerby}16.11.37. [Handwritten: A] [Handwritten: 600] 24.G.6 - for the Log book. (1) The scuttle sideways shake is terrible, particularly at 70 mph. over slightly rough surface. We should try refitting the scuttle support brackets to get a value for these, they were removed when the frame holes were made. (2) Rear exhaust silencer box rattles internally. (3) Carburetter floods, and starting on the hand control with hot engine is poor. (4) Brakes squeak. (5) Foot switch faulty, fails to operate dipper about every third effort. (6) The ign warning light is not sufficiently shielded from the dash lamp, the light shining through appears as if we are not charging. (7) Petrol pumps noisy A and B sides. (8) Speedo mileage recording approx. 5% slow check. (9) Petrol consumption very poor 13.75 m.p.g. (10) Oil consumption with oilways in rockers stopped up is 1,700 m.p.g. No sign of over-oiling after running light. (11) Approximately one egg-cup full of gear-box oil was collected in metal tray after run of 330 miles. (12) Squeaks from oil seals in rear axle. No noticeable engine periods with new damper. Suspension good, but we could do with more controlled damping at high speeds. Brakes very good except for squeaks.
