In reply to your question reading:- [Handwritten: X4299]
"Mr. Belnap of Springfield says that they have been advised that England proposes to use the 14/52 ratio for back axles for all cars with heavy bodies, but Springfield have not received drawings or standardisation sheets to this date. The date of his letter is the 12th of August. Will you please see that the necessary papers are sent to Springfield at once?"

The reason Springfield have not yet received the drawings and standardisation sheets, is due, Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} informs me, to yourself and R. {Sir Henry Royce} not yet having signed and returned the standardisation sheets which he has sent along for signature. Immediately we receive the standardisation sheets duly signed both by yourself and R. {Sir Henry Royce} , copies will be sent to America, together with the drawings which are completed and ready for despatch.

[Handwritten note: (Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ) You have received mine J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} Hamish(?)]
