E.R. Hall Esq.,

Dear Hall,

The men have asked if you will propose the toast to the Visitors at their dinner next week. I said I thought that you would not mind, since by the time the toasts take place, few of the audience are in a position to criticise one's deficiencies in oratorical performance!

I am trying to find a job for Maurice little but have not been able to do anything so far. However, if a suitable opening does arise I will make sure that he gets a chance.

Yours sincerely,
