PROPOSED STANDARDIZATION OF CHASSIS PARTS
No. 28

To Mr. Belnap
The following is proposed:

PIECE NOS. AFFECTED: S.S. G-6501
SECTION NO.: 6060
NAME OF PARTS: Epicyclic Gear on 2nd Motion Shaft

DESCRIPTION of Alteration: To cancel bush G-3518 in sun wheel shaft and reduce bore of sun wheel shaft to provide guide for pull rod.

PURPOSE of Alteration: With the use of grover washer for the nut on the sunwheel spindle which holds the chain sprocket, there is no definite means of preventing the bush G-3518 from pulling out, except its tight fit in the shaft. Movement between the pull rod and bore of the spindle occurs only occasionally, at low speed and under no load. We have never seen any sign of wear between the spindle and the pull rod. We therefore suggest that bush G-3518 is unnecessary.

Alteration No. 4274/A
Date January 11, 1924
