Interim Report
After 6000 miles'running
and general examination of the car.

Total mileage . . . . . . . . 6.128
Total hours running . . . . . 210-1/4
Total petrol used . . . . . . .Information available
here. Incomplete.
Total lubricating oil added 6-3/4 pts.
Average speed . . . . . . . . 29.1 miles per hour.
Petrol consumption. . . . . under 10 miles per gal.
Oil consumption . . . . . . . 7250 miles per gal.

Generally, the car has run consistently and well,
and I consider the results of the test, up to date, are
satisfactory.

There are two features which require instant
attention. These are :-

1) Stickiness and stiffening up of steering after running.
These two effects are quite distinct and altogether spoil
the steering which is otherwise a great improvement on
the old one, and is, in my opinion, generally satisfactory.

2) Collection of mud and grit in the front wheel brakes.
The brake covers are inefficient and, in the condition of
the roads out here, permit large collections of road
material in the brake drums, which completely spoils the
action of the front wheel brakes, and renders them
practically ineffective.

There are a few minor features which are more
inconveniences than troubles, and which require attention at
an early date. These are :-

1) The controls rattle in the steering column.

2) The engine appears to lose tune, and the valve tappet
clearances do not remain as set.

3) The butterfly throttle appears to collect grit at intervals,
which leads to its not closing when the car is over-running
and causes bad popping in the exhaust.

Dealing with the examination now made, the
following is the condition of the various parts of the car :-
