43117 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KW. 12th November, 1934. The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd., Dallow Road, LUTON. For the attention of Comdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We are returning to you under separate cover the Jack which you lent us. We enclose a report comparing this Jack with the Dunlop we are at present using. The increased weight is certainly a disadvantage. The wide variation leverage between minimum and maximum lift is a definite disadvantage; having to fit a two-speed gear would of course increase the cost of production considerably. Nowadays Jacks are seldom used, the chances of the Scissors type Jack rusting up are considerably greater than that of the normal screw type. On balance we think that the screw type Jack is the best proposition. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
