For the attention of Mr.Clemson.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to the Neoprene washers to EW.1664 which our Order Office have ordered from you and of which one has been returned to you for examination in view of a complaint of the washer re-shaping itself - these are radiator filler cap washers and durability and freedom from sticking are the primary qualities required.

We have tested one of your washers (by boiling in 30% of ethylene glycol solution for 60 hours) against a washer from a competitive firm and enclose the remains of your washer here-with - it has completely disintegrated. The other make of washer is relatively satisfactory.

Our Laboratory who tested these washers inform us that this is very poor quality Neoprene and that it should withstand such a test easily. We would like your comments on this.

We would like to know whether you can submit improved washers for test purposes.

An early reply would be appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
