We send you herewith LeC 4784 showing the scheme for the mounting of the Clayton Heater on the back of the dash-board, and its coupling to the engine. The heater is carried only in this position on cars which have no division, such as the Continental Touring Saloon. It was found necessary for us to consider this problem on Phantom III, although a similar problem on the 25 H.P. has been left to the coachbuilders and Cricklewood, because of the introduction of the noise insulation on the dash-board, and of the special difficulties arising from a twelve-cylinder 'V' engine. The water connections to the engine are indicated here, but the details will be shown on LeC 4730 which is being issued to you under separate cover. The heater is held to the dash by special in-reaching nuts which it will be necessary for us to supply when the heater is ordered, as well as the distance pieces. With reference to the arrangement of the rubber connections, it is essential that when these are being fitted up, the scheme should be adhered to as they are so placed as to take account of the movement of the engine on its flexible mounting. It is proposed to have a chapter in our book "Recommendations to Coachbuilders" dealing with the fitting of heaters, when this drawing will be referred to. There will also be a small scale drawing showing how to connect up a heater which is fitted only to a body having a division, where the heater is in the rear compartment. Will you kindly send a print of this drawing LeC4784 to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} for his reference. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Le 4896 Att: LeC.4684. | ||
