1263 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}1/JH. 15th. July, 1939. Wilmot-Breeden Ltd., Eastern Works, Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM.1. For the attention of Mr.A.E. Smye. Dear Sirs, We are returning to you the flush fitting filler you left here yesterday as the administration seem to be committed to an internal filler under a trap in wing. The filler with the internal cap is certainly more suited for the construction and we would like to obtain another sample of this type with the neoprene sealing ring if possible in exchange for the one we are returning. The only criticism of the sample supplied is that the hole for the filling pipe seems too small and we know of a particular filler spout frequently met with in France which is fitted with an aluminium nozzle of larger diameter than the pipe (rather like a fire hose). This would no doubt enter but become trapped. We intend however to fit it to a car and will let you know what our findings are. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
