Park Royal, W.3.

For the attention of Mr. Johnson.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 21st. inst. regarding .137 thick thrust washers which are otherwise to EXS.1342.

We note that you cannot produce these in Steel backed Babitt and in consequence, are prepared to accept the four sets of thrust washers with Clevite facing and would be pleased if you would go forward with these.

Another item we should like to discuss is the provision of an internal annular groove in the rocker bush (EB.4198) .125 wide and .020 deep.

[Drawing of a bush with an internal groove, with handwritten annotations: '.790 DIA' and '.750']

The position of the groove is that its centre line is .750 from one end of the bush and before asking you to produce them would like to know if the bush will be strong enough to be pressed in with this groove cut in or if there is any reason against employing it.

If your reply is favourable, then we can get the groove machined in the plain bushes EB.4198, of which we have several sets for experimental trial.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
