Major F.B. Halford,
8 & 9, Golden Square,
LONDON. W.1.

Dear Major Halford,

Thank you for your letter of the 25th January.

I enclose copy of the advertisement; we, apparently jumped to conclusions because we took it that the R.R.56 rod would be running direct on the shaft.

We ran a number of sets of these rods under high duty on a Bentley engine and on a nitrided shaft, the bearing appeared to be quite satisfactory. We did not go on with them because we were afraid that under extreme temperatures of cold they would tighten on the crankshaft. With the increase of production of austenitic steels, this objection may no longer hold water.

Yours sincerely,
