I have endeavoured for some time past to avoid the use of the very thick oil in the gear box, which in winter so increases the difficulty of changing gear. I think the thickest oil we ought to use should not be thicker than Castrol, and I think Price's Amber Gear Oil is, if anything, too thick, and Battersea gear oil is altogether much too high in viscosity.
