Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG/Dn 26th August 1 9 4 0. PRESSED STEEL COMPANY Ltd, Cowley, OXFORD. For the attention of Mr Maton. Dear Sirs, Regarding the shape at the rear end of the small body, which we recently discussed with you, we are still most anxious to have the rear corners of the tonneau and boot as sharp as the B.V body, the full-size drawing of which you have. As you know, Mr Speed on his visit here, pointed out the difficulty there would be in manufacture and we more or less agreed that we would ask only for the top corners of the tonneau and boot to be sharpened up. Since our visit to you, we have gone further into the matter, and feel that to make a really satisfactory job of this particular design, the corners should be kept sharp. We appreciate that by having the job made like this, it will be more costly, both from a tool and manufacturing point of view. We should be greatly obliged if you could find time to go further into the matter, and let us know what you estimate the additional tool and body cost would be. If necessary, the writer will come to Oxford and see you, but he feels that you will be able to deal with this matter without him. When advising us of the additional cost, we should also like to know what the construction will be if we have the sharpened corners. Although we know we are asking a lot, and that you are extremely busy, if you could give this matter your attention as soon as possible, we should be much obliged, as it would enable us to get further preparatory work done at this end. Yours faithfully, | ||
