-7- STARTING HANDLE TO N.S. 3118.- The short starting handle with the length of shaft left in position operated quite satisfactorily. We have experienced no undue difficulty in starting up the engine or turning the engine for checking valve clearance, etc. FRONT AXLE & BRAKES TO L.O.P. G.78450. INCORPORATING N.S.3060 Non-return Valve & Filter for Steering Pivot Drip Plug. Scheme 1255 Lubrication of Axle Control Ball End. Scheme 1255 Centralised Chassis Lubrication to Front Axle. G.78432 Arrgt. of Non-return valve and Filter. Brake Straps lined with "Mintex W" Brake Shoes.- The lubrication to the front axle has been quite satisfactory. There is no sign of any fracture of the central lubricating oil pipe. The scheme of lubricating the axle control ball ends has been quite satisfactory, ample oil was found upon dismantling. FRONT BRAKES.- The front brakes, taken down and examined, show them to be in very good condition. The Mintex brake lining causes very bad squeaks, and from the appearance of the shoes, the material is of a hard nature, practically no wear has taken place. The brake drums are slightly scored, Lubrication of the brake toggle shafts has been ample, the bearings of same are in good condition. FRONT ROAD SPRINGS TO L.O.P. F.79626. Drawing No. F.78792. Lubrication No. F.80880. Type 1000 lbs. Initial camber 3.130.- We had squeaks develop from the n/s front road spring. This was taken down and dismantled, and we found that the rear portion of the spring had practically had no lubrication, the bijur being at fault in this case. The front portion was amply lubricated, as also were the spring shackle pins. No undue wear has taken place in the bushes of the pins or on the pins themselves. No fracture can be seen in any of the spring leaves. FRONT AXLE HYDRAULIC DAMPERS TO L.O.P. F.82446 - Scheme 1283. (1) Lubrication of Axle Control Ball End Pin carried from Front Axle System to Scheme 1283. (2) Near Side Intermediate Lever F.82449 fitted with floating bush F.82455 in BZ/A.{Mr Adams} (3) Off side Intermediate Lever F.82452 (S/ZN) hardened in bore at small end. (4) Loads set: H.F. 120 lbs. L.P. 120 lbs.- ANCHORAGE FOR FRONT AXLE DAMPER TO L.O.P. F.82447.- The bottom bearings of the anchorage for the front axle damper, we found upon dismantling the o/s that it had not received any oil. We found that the bijur had become stopped up, therefore no oil had been fed to this bearing. The front hydraulic | ||
