Further potential savings in weight are 14" light alloy front drums which require a complete re-design of the pivot before they can be incorporated, and reduced capacity petrol tank. We estimate that we can provide a 10% greater range than standard on the Continental car at any given average speed for 10% less petrol in the tank. This owing to the higher compression and axle ratio, lighter car, modified carb and suction ignition control. We are doing nothing about this, however, until the consumption figure has been established in practice.

Further Potential Savings. Wt. Saving:
Light alloy 14" drums on the front waiting for design. 40 lbs.
3 gals petrol & tank to hold 25 "
Re-designed front suspension on Pacard or B.III lines Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les18/KW.24.4.36. 70 "
Integral gearbox and engine unit 15 "

With reference to the Power output of the Continental P.III engine, the attached curve shows the present position.

A considerable amount of endurance running has been carried out on the P.III engine developing over 230 H.P., and so far it would appear to be a reasonably reliable unit with Hall's Metal bearings under these conditions, but different results may be obtained on the road.

We know that potentially another 20 H.P. can be obtained by modifications to the carburetter, and these are at present going forward.

The most gratifying feature of the Power output at present obtained is that no low speed pulling power has been sacrificed to obtain the result.
