Swindell}32/MH.{M. Huckerby}2.9.37. WRAITH SUCTION STRAINER. The present system of the double gauze strainer in the lower half is, we consider unnecessary and recommend that we revert to the Bentley and 30HP type of single gauze filter of cylindrical shape for the following reasons:- (1) The fine mesh of the existing Wraith outer filter makes for increased efficiency and therefore requires cleaning more often. This we consider a disadvantage in view of the inaccessible position under the sump and the dirtiness of the job when in a customer's hands. (2) That in going back to the single course mesh gauze we shall be no worse off in respect of dirt getting through than on Bentley and 25/30, also we have the advantage of the external bye pass filter which keeps the oil in remarkably clean condition. (3) Lastly there will be some saving in cost by going back to the single gauze. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
