The Gordon Armstrong Patent Suspension COMPANY LIMITED WALTHAM WORKS, OPPOSITE ST MARYS CHURCH, BEVERLEY E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} YORKS GORDON ARMSTRONG. A.M.I.A.E., F.Inst PAT. N.O. TILL. OUR REF: GA.WC.5. YOUR REF: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. 21st January, 1937. For Mr. Leslie's attention. Dear Mr. Leslie, I have had spring-loaded valves fitted to the front shock absorbers of my car and find it quite a lot better; in fact, I am almost inclined to like spring-loaded valves. I find, however, that bye-passing the oil with the dash control as we have it does not make any appreciable difference and have, therefore, arranged a scheme for these shock absorbers to have a hand-controlled operation on similar lines except that it will operate the pressure on the spring. We are, therefore, making up a set of shock absorbers with the bellows arrangement to suit your existing hydraulic gear; and a second set with a lever to be operated by rods from the dash. We are doing this to give you an opportunity of testing out the two methods to see which you like best. Yours sincerely, p.p. THE GORDON ARMSTRONG PATENT SUSPENSION CO. LTD. Gordon Armstrong | ||
