X.5660 Extract from GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}'s report from France on 18-EX. 31.12.28. Re 20 HP. car brought out by Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, this as Rn{Mr Robinson} will agree is very disappointing. The electrical equipment on this car is altogether wrong. The headlamps do not function, the sockets for the bulb lamps are poor. There is insufficient pressure at the centre electrode to keep a proper contact on the bulbs. This causes heat to generate and melts the solder off the contact of the bulb. The dynamo gives us a miserly 4 amps, at an average speed of 35 to 40 m.p.h. and during the first night's running there was not a vestige of a charge left in the accumulator, in fact there was not sufficient to work the windscreen wipers. The green lamp is useless. In fact there is nothing right. | ||
