To RG.{Mr Rowledge} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to CJ. BJ. c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} PN.{Mr Northey} RE. FRONT WHEEL BRAKES. X.1559 X.9940 The matter of relieving these brakes automatically when passing round a corner is a very difficult job and we are attempting a little bit more than it is reasonable for us to expect to digest. We should have done well if we had gone on completing a set of brakes as originally designed since completed and fairly satisfactory, but relatively more braking needed on front wheels - (good error). We therefore think it would be advisable to fit a second one up with the reversed scheme in which the front brake are from 'servo', so that we can introduce the automatic release as soon as it is ready. In the meantime we can work on getting the brakes satisfactory, pending the introduction of this relief. We now fear insufficient back wheel braking. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
