X300a To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/KW.6.10.36. Parts for 35-EX now running 15,000 miles. This car is at the present moment completing tests in London and will then be brought back for modifications before it goes out to France. The most important item is Hall's metal big end bearings, as these have failed consistently in white metal. The following is a list of parts we hope to get on :- (1) New crankshaft with reduced pins. Hall's metal big ends, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}C/JH.1.10.36. (2) Radiator with stays at the back. (3) Gearbox with the latest modifications to prevent gear jumping out of mesh. (4) Front brakes with latest modifications to get increased travel and new brake stops. (5) High speed fan, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}224. (6) Cross steering tube ball pads which have increased friction to prevent from rotating in the tube. (7) Exhaust system similar to the one now fitted to 37-EX. Exact specification can be provided by Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} (8) Strengtheded wheel drivers, if ready. (9) Burgess air filter element. if ready. (10) Increased coupling flexibility LeC.4809. (11) It is proposed to run this car with and without rubber shackles, provision should be made so that these can be changed over. hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} (12) Correct front dampers.
