-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}19/KW.14.7.36. There is no doubt that we can improve the 25/30 HP. oil consumption. The difficulty is to do anything in a very short time and be certain that it will not later lead to piston seizures or some other worse trouble. In addition to our own tests we are trying to get exact information as to how long it takes for the oil consumption to settle down in customers' hands. There seem to be some obscure cases where cars have been delivered which oil up their sparking plugs, but there should be no justification for this state of affairs. It must be remembered that a short time ago we were told that the Aerolite piston was bad for oil consumption. Subsequent investigations have indicated that other factors were causing the high oil consumption, and we have not yet been able to get hold of a case to investigate in which it has been demonstrated that the piston was at fault.
