Dear Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} , I have just returned from my visit to the States where, as requested by you or Grylls, I made enquiries into the General Motors test code. They appear to be quite willing to let me have a copy of this, but they are revising it and the new edition is not yet issued. However, when this comes along I will no doubt be able to get one or two copies. Chrysler's are going ahead with the fluid fly-wheel which is a very neat and completely welded-up job. I understand, however, that they are not fitting it to all of their models at the moment. General Motors do not appear to have anything particular up their sleeve, unless they are keeping something very dark. The hydraulic tappet (Wilcox-Rich) is being employed by more and more manufacturers. I think overdrives will become more popular in the next year or two. At the moment I am absolutely up to the eyes, but I hope to come and see you in the course of a week or so. With kind regards, Yours sincerely, Rod Banks | ||
