X1770 BY5/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 30.9.27. ROLLS ROYCE F.11 & 12. TIMING. ------------------------------ Mr.Wilkins is in real difficulties over the timing of the engine. He is certain that the engines are not timed like our drawing, but he is not certain what the variation from the drawing is. We have been trying for about a fortnight to get a definitely considered and declared timing. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please give this matter his consideration, and let us have the timing which the Experimental consider to be the best compromise, so that we can bring our drawings and statement into line with actual practice. If there is any preference in the Experimental Dept. for a particular "gap" in "cold setting", that is, 10 thous. or 15, or 25, will you kindly let us have this information as well. It is of course of no great moment what the actual gap is, provided it is consistent with the rest of the story. The timing should of course include the magneto settings. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
