Change in bolt manufacturing from square to round bar stock and a request to produce new bolt designs for testing.

Identifier  ExFiles\Box 74\1\  scan0171
Date  12th September 1919

To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}

Contd.
E3/G12.9.19.

Condition (2) is satisfied by conforming to the hexagon list.

With regard to condition (3) it is thought that on the whole production will be simplified and cheapened by turning from a smaller round bar and milling the head flats afterwards, as compared with turning from the present square bars.

Would you kindly instruct, in accordance with Mr. Royce's wishes, some bolts to be made with heads to the new design, in sufficient quantity and variety to carry out a test for standardisation.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
