re. 20-HP & 40/50 HP. Faulty Bulb Horns. X4078 X1069

We find that in nearly all cases of cars which we handle this horn is not working satisfactorily.

The trouble is due to water getting in to the flexible pipe, and when this water is drained out and the internal parts cleaned, the horn is then quite satisfactory. Unfortunately the opening to the horn is fixed in a position where water easily gets into it when washing and also when the car is out in the rain.

We suggest that the position of the horn should be altered or preferably a small 1/8" hole should be drilled in the flexible pipe at its lowest portion which can act as a drain hole. This we have done on one or two occasions and it does not appear to make any serious difference to the working of thehorn.

We suggest the latter point should be taken up with the makers and their comments obtained as to whether they have any objection to this action, or whether they have a better proposal.

Please let us know what information you can obtain as we should like to circulate this to our Depots, it being a feature which we feel they could deal with to the advantage of our customers etc.
