We have not to lose sight of the fact that we do get a large percentage of bodies with Sunshine roofs, and a certain percentage of bodies of the convertable type (Sedanca, Cabriolet, and Landaulet). We cannot be sure of always having the body rigidity, and it might therefore be concluded that we need a greater frame rigidity than otherwise we would.

We note that Chrysler, having designed their saloon to receive most of the rigidity from the body, now have to market a Drop-head Coupé. To do this they have had to build a body with a steel underframe, having a large cross, so introducing the equivalent of the torsionally rigid chassis frame.

Since our coachwork comes from various sources and is of various types, there appears less hope of being certain of its rigidity.
