Specification of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III Clutch. - For the next 8 chassis.

The following is the specification for the clutch for the next 8 SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis as decided at the meeting in E's office on the 27th inst.

In other respects the specification is unaltered as far as we are concerned.

(1) Increased clutch pedal travel - N. Sch.4404.
HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.14.3.35.
This includes a spring to hold the pedal against the floorboard.
Slight alterations are required to the crankcase and to the floorboards.

(2) Spring for Felt pad on pedal of reduced strength.

(3) Modifications to the clutch operation.
N.Sch.4447. HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.24.4.35.
The release thrust bearing is of the deep groove journal type to provide for different conditions, due to the release of all end load when not in use, by the spring on the pedal.
Pattern alterations are required to allow of a raised operating shaft.
The helical splines on the operating shaft are deleted and the necessary compensation obtained by a universal ring as for the Phantom.
