22nd. April 1938.

Messrs. Dennis Bros. Ltd.,
Guildford,
SURREY.

For the attention of Mr.J.Milne.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 12th. inst. and for the data enclosed. From the photographs the bearings appear to be in very good condition apart from the markings in the centre which you suggest are due possibly to particles of foreign matter entering the bearing via the oil supply hole to the gudgeon pin.

Under the circumstances it would perhaps be as well for you to proceed with your tests, and we should be pleased if you would arranged to let us have further data on the lines of that already supplied, from time to time as you add to your running time. We should like to see the bearings when you have completed your tests, and perhaps you will inform the writer when the time arrives.

We should like to know how the bearings are performing relative to your standard bearings if you can draw any comparison at the present time, and one other point, have you noticed any difference in lubricating oil consumption on the unit since fitting these bearings ?

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
