Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/WRC.4/MH.{M. Huckerby} c. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} c. HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/WSC.{W. S. Cassel} Messrs. Borg & Beck Co. Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa, Warwicks. 25th. October 1937. Dear Sirs, Re 10" and 11" driven Plates for re-conditioning. We have an accumulation of 10" and 11" driven plates which have been used in Experimental cars. Some appear to be in almost new condition and some have seen considerable service, and a few have non-standard features such as oil thrower discs, non standard damper springs, and various facing materials. We are sending you 28 - 10" plates and 8 - 11" plates per goods train. Will you please examine these, and let us have your recommendations for re-conditioning those which would make good service stock, removing non-standard features, and fitting Thermoid facings. Any which are worn in the splines or for any other reason cannot be economically re-conditioned, may be scrapped. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
