The chief cause of the noise was found to be the trailing edge of the top side of valve, and by radiusing this edge off, the suction noise has been considerably reduced, the result being equal to the present standard carburetter. We tried radiusing the bottom trailing edge so that it would be interchangeable, but we found that by doing so the suction noise was increased. It is necessary therefore to radius the top edge only. This increased radius reduces the seating at the top to half its area but we have not found any sign of sticking or other detrimental defects from this. The D.O. have been given particulars of what has been done. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/G.W.Hancock. | ||
