R.{Sir Henry Royce} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} C. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} JAPAN 3. FRONT ENGINE SUSPENSION. [STAMP] ORIGINAL E2/M15.1.31. XJ-005- XS25-0. By reason of the projected modifications to the slipper flywheel mentioned in another memo, we can reduce the overhang of the front engine suspension. This move, in conjunction with a more forward position of radiator, would enable us to hang up the unit on a tubular cross member immediately behind the radiator. The starting handle would be passed through a tube in the matrix as on Phantom 2. This may avoid cramping the radiator bottom tank and the danger of deposit stopping part of the matrix. Would you kindly say if you think this scheme is worth considering. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
