Referring to your scheme N.517, would you kindly note the following points which Mr. Royce has raised in connection with this job:- (1) The only form of vent pipe which Mr. Royce thinks suitable is one taken from the top of the tank and passing to the filler tower without dipping below the horizontal. In the case of the existing 40/50 H.P. chassis frame this would pass underneath the permanent portion of the luggage carrier until it came opposite to the filler snout. It would then make a right angle bend and jointo the filler snout - see sketches below - The fitting to the top of the petrol tank should be as in sketch, and a suitable boss should be left on the petrol filler twoer. As regards the future chassis frame in which the side member itself projects over the petrol tank, then the air vent pipe would pass through a hole in the frame as shewn - | ||
